Privacy and Confidentiality Statement

The following statement reflects The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's (AACAP) commitment to maintain The Campaign for America's Kids website visitors' rights to privacy and confidentiality of personal information.

AACAP believes that the tracking of personal medical and health information is a breach of an individual's personal privacy, and, as such, has taken extensive measures to ensure the safety and security of its website servers to guard against the dissemination of private information. Our website does not distribute personal information about visitors and donors unless voluntarily provided by the visitor.

This site will not collect names, e-mail addresses or any other personal information unless voluntarily provided by the visitor. Names and e-mail addresses of site visitors will not be provided or released to a third party without the site visitor's express permission.

E-mail information, personal information about specific visitor's access and navigation, and information volunteered by site visitors, such as survey information and site registration information, may be used by the site owner to improve the site, but will not be shared with or sold to other organizations for commercial purposes without the site visitor's express permission.

The AACAP will not collect and will not allow third parties to collect personal medical or financial information from website visitors.

We collect individually identifiable information about you when you choose to share information about yourself, for example, when you make a donation, request information or sign up to be an advocate. This information may include your postal or e-mail address, your telephone number and other information.

Individually identifiable information is used to provide you with information or to deliver the service you have requested. If you provide your postal address, telephone number or e-mail address to The Campaign for America's Kids online, you may receive any of the following periodic contacts from us:

  • Mailings with information about additional Campaign-related resource programs, services and events from AACAP;



  • Mailings that invite you to join the Campaign or to help the Campaign achieve its mission;



  • Our electronic newsletter;



  • Telephone contact with information about orders you have placed online;



  • Telephone contact to invite you to join the Campaign or to help the Foundation achieve its mission;



  • E-mail contact to respond to your questions, comments or suggestions; and

  • E-mail contact to alert you to Campaign news updates, products and services of The Academy.

In certain sections of The Campaign for America's Kids site, only persons who provide us with the requested personally identifiable information will be able to use tools or otherwise participate in the site's activities and offerings.

Community Tools

Some portions of our site provide special services and interactive tools that allow users to upload information for public consumption. In some cases, users can share experiences, give advice and connect with others. Please remember that personal pages are public forums and personal information disclosed there will be seen by others. In addition, please exercise caution when posting information or providing information about yourself to others, especially contact information, such as street address, telephone number or e-mail address.

Please note that the Academy is not responsible for the information privacy practices of linked sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of each site you visit.

In order to prevent unauthorized access and protect our users' personal information, we strive to maintain physical, electronic and administrative safeguards to secure the information we collect online. For example, online contributions are processed using Secure Socket Layer (SSL).
